My Bucket List Travel Destinations

Travel is something I’ve only become passionate about in the last few years. I think a lot of it had to do with the pandemic. Not even having the option to go anywhere made me realize that going places is what I want to do! While I definitely identify as more of a “vacationer”, I realized that there’s so much I want to experience in my life before I can’t anymore. Waiting to travel until retirement is not my strategy, and there’s so much I want to do while I’m young and have time, flexibility, and my health.

Here is my travel bucket list:

French Polynesia – I’d love to go back and actually go to Bora Bora, but I tend to shy away from returning to places since there’s so much I want to see.

Maldives – Same as French Polynesia, I want to come back and see more resorts but will wait until I cross more off of my list!

European Christmas Markets – Germany seems like a great destination for this and I love the way London looks near Christmas, too. I admit I’m much more a beach girl so I tend to not prioritize trips like this, but I’m trying to push myself to do different things.

Japan – My husband has told me time and time again how much people love Japan and I was convinced after learning more about it. This is our winter 2024 trip and we cannot wait! Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, and the Fuji Five Lakes region are our priorities. If we love it as much as everyone else does maybe we’ll come back and explore more areas!

Italy – While I’ve actually been to Italy twice with my husband, I’m going to leave this one as incomplete. We’ve done the Amalfi Coast, Rome, Florence, and Lake Como but there is still so much I want to see in Italy. Next on my list are Tuscany, Ischia, Sicily, and Sardinia.

Greece – The Greek Islands are like nothing else and I’m so excited we’ll be crossing this off my list for my birthday (30, eek!) in summer 2024. We only have time for Santorini and Athens but I’m so excited!

Australia – As a proclaimed beach lover, Australia’s beaches look so amazing and the Great Barrier Reef is calling my name!

France – I feel like everyone needs to see Paris once in their lifetime, right? My husband is completely disinterested in going to France so I’ve enlisted my best friend to go with me in early summer 2024. We’ll also be going to Saint-Tropez.

Switzerland – Living somewhere very flat but beautiful in a different way, the idea of being in Switzerland with all of those mountains is so appealing to me.

Africa – Out of all of these, this is the trip I am most passionate about. A South African safari and Seychelles combination trip is on my radar for 2025. It’ll be very $$$$ though and may likely be our big trip for the year.

I wanted to share this list in case it inspires anyone else but also to keep myself accountable! I’ll be updating this list over time as I’m able to do these things and adding more if I think of any.

What’s on your travel bucket list? Have you been to any of these destinations?
